My close friend and I are founding an animal welfare organization. We have many goals!
1. We want to rescue misunderstood breeds like Pit Bulls and Rottweilers, as well as dogs that everyone else gave up on because of behavior issues. We wish to rehabilitate them and integrate them into the community in a positive way. We hope to train many of these animals to be therapy dogs. 2. We wish to create a video library of dogs of stereotyped breeds being great contributions to society. Police work, cancer sniffing, search and rescue, and pets that have saved lives all will be displayed in touching videos to show people that stereotypes are just that-STEREOTYPES.
3. We wish to strongly advocate proper breed research, socialization, and training. Page after of info to help anyone and everyone. Also a separate video library of training methods and how-tos.
4. We are obviously against BSL(breed bans) and fighting it’s injustices will be a focal point of our organizations goals. We will have every logical and factual point against this legislation possible. We will also offer a comprehensive history of media coverage of dog attacks, which breeds they have historically targeted(in the 1800’s it was the bloodhound, in the 1960’s it was the Doberman, etc.), and the history of each breed targeted. We will also include pages of detailed information of individual countries bannings and which places have found breed bans to be a total waste of money and time. Oh and who could forget the hundreds of dogs mistaken for banned breeds every year.
5. We will inform the average pet owner about vaccination safety and the truth behind the pretty packaging on that kibble bag. We will list a comprehensive but easy to understand guide on how to choose a kibble or canned food and will we discuss homemade dietary options such as Prey model and BARF.
6. We want members! Members all over the world, we stand for every dog, and every pet owner.
7. Donations, donations, donations! We will use these to fund our goals, and to fund various events for communities whenever and wherever we can.
8. Finally, our most crucial goal to to stop dog bites from ever happening in the first place. Our funds shall also go to education programs for safety around dogs. They will be taught in public schools and offered at other events.
So… What could we possibly call our organization? Acronyms would nice, but not necessary.
